It wont let you select just the loop region. This scaling allows to use the FX interface, however the text is not as clear on my new 32' UHD monitor as with 175 scaling.

Maybe one day when MKV support is better they can be used, but they're best avoided for now. Although not yet officially announced, VEGAS Pro 16 Update 2 (build 307) is available. AviDemux can do a bunch of other stuff like cut your video (without re-encoding) or swap audio files and stuff like that, but you don't need any of that just now.ĭon't use MKV files as intermediate or editing files - it's just causes trouble.

A few seconds later, without any re-encoding or loss of quality, I have an MP4 file that Vegas (or anything else) will open without hassle. Set the output format to MP4 Muxer and his the save icon. I dragged the file in, set Video to Copy. Awful names, I know.īy using a tool like AviDemux, you can pull the video and audio streams out of your MKV. Remuxing is sticking in a different container.

It's the same as unzipping files from a ZIP file. De-what my what? Dexmuxing is the process of removing streams from a container file. So what can you do? There are two things. They are not well-supported and you often end up with unexpected errors like you have. In other words, when you've completely finished with your project, you might make an MKV as the final playback version. They're very much a final/consumer format. MKV files aren't really a file type that anyone should be using for editing. Accordingly Vegas can open some MKV files and not others.

Most video software doesn't support them at all and Vegas only has an experimental MKV handler. Because of this, they're quite hard to work with. They can contain multiple video streams, multiple audio streams, multiple subtitle files and a whole host of other things. MKVs are a particularly flexible form of container file. It's those streams that are in formats like AVC/h.264 or ACC, etc. What are they? Well, MKV, MOV, MP4, AVI and more are all container files. That's your problem right there - it's an MKV file.
